Frequently asked questions

Handcrafted in Utah, one small batch at a time. Here's everything you need to know about ordering, shipping, and returns. Straight from the people who actually build your board.

Ordering

Choosing the right deck comes down to your skating style and personal preference. Whether you're learning your first ollie or charging bowls, we've got you covered.

8.0" Deck

Perfect for street skating, flip tricks, and riders who prefer a lighter, quicker, and more responsive board.

8.25" Deck

Our most versatile size. Offers a little more stability while still feeling quick under your feet. Great for street, park, transition, and everyday skating.

Still not sure? Contact us anytime! As skaters ourselves, we're happy to help you choose the perfect River Skateboards deck.

River Skateboards are built in small, limited runs. No mass production, no warehouses full of the same graphic. Once a design sells out, it usually doesn't come back. We'd rather put our energy into new custom graphics, shapes, and collections than churn out the same deck over and over.

Don't wait too long! If you see a deck you love, grab it while it's available. Each run is made in limited quantities and once they're gone, they're gone.

Yep, every deck ships with a free sheet of black Jessup grip tape (9" x 33", professional quality) so you're ready to set up and ride as soon as it arrives.

Shipping

We're a small, skater-owned shop, so we don't have the buying power to offer free shipping across the board. Costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and order, and we work hard to keep them as fair as possible while making sure your deck arrives safely.

Absolutely, we've got riders all over the world. Contact us before ordering and we'll personally put together a shipping quote and let you know about any duties or import taxes for your country.

Every deck is pressed and shipped out of our shop in Utah within 2 business days, and typically arrives in 3–7 business days depending on your location. You'll get a tracking link by email as soon as it rolls out the door.

Deck information

Every deck is hand-pressed right here in Utah. We're not a print-on-demand storefront or a reseller. We build the boards ourselves, in small batches, from start to finish.

We're skater-owned, not investor-owned. Every deck is 7-ply Canadian maple, hand-pressed in small runs with no heat transfers and no shortcuts. That means real character in every board and no two decks are perfectly identical. You're getting something made by hand, not off an assembly line.

River decks are built from premium 7-ply Canadian maple to be ridden hard, but a little care goes a long way in keeping yours performing its best and looking great.

  • Keep your deck dry and avoid riding or storing it in wet conditions.
  • Store your board indoors in a cool, dry place away from excessive heat or direct sunlight.
  • Avoid leaving your board in a hot car for extended periods.

Remember: Skateboards are made to be ridden. Normal wear, scratches, chips, and razor tail are all part of skateboarding and are not considered manufacturing defects.

Because a real person presses and finishes every board, you might notice small differences from deck to deck. Slight variations in wood grain, graphic placement, or concave feel. That's not a flaw, it's the tradeoff for buying handmade instead of mass-produced. If a variation ever crosses the line into an actual manufacturing defect, that's covered under our warranty.

Warranty & returns

If you think your board has a manufacturing defect or arrived damaged, reach out within 7 days of delivery. Include your order number, a quick description of the issue, and clear photos. A real person on our small team will review it and get back to you with next steps. Please hold off on sending anything back until you've received return authorization from us.

Every River deck is hand-pressed in small batches, not mass-produced. So once a board has been ridden or used, all sales are final. That said, we stand behind our craftsmanship: if your order arrives damaged or has a genuine manufacturing defect, contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos and we'll make it right. The warranty covers construction issues, not normal wear from skating.

Skateboards take a beating. That's the whole point. Chips, scratches, razor tail, and eventually a snapped deck from stomping a trick are all normal parts of riding, not defects. If your board fails in a way that points to a construction problem rather than normal wear (delamination, a weak spot in the ply, something that clearly isn't from riding), get in touch within 7 days of delivery with photos and we'll look into it.
